Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery indicated for the aesthetic nose correction. There are numerous possibilities: increase or decrease the size of the nose, increase tip projection, reduce the nasal wings and decrease the bone hump.
It is recommended for those who are unsatisfied with the shape of the nose..
The surgery may be carried out in closed form (without any external scars) in most of the patients, needing to be done in an open way in a small amount of noses. Regardless of the chosen access, the key is to keep facial naturalness of the patient, avoiding the stigmatized aspect of the nose.
Often the surgery is associated with other nasal procedures to improve the breathing, such as correction of nasal septum and of the turbinate hypertrophy.
It is performed under general anaesthesia, requiring hospitalization for 4-6 hours on average.
Usually we don’t use drains or intranasal packing, using only a rigid dressing for 7 days.
It is usually a procedure that leads to little local pain and reduced edema (swelling).
