Gluteal Augmentation

Increase of the buttocks region can be achieved by various methods, including fat grafting (graft from fat accumulation in some region of the patient herself), or the placement of prostheses for this purpose. Liposculpture allows us to model the body of the patient, as it removes the excess fat in the outer thighs, flanks and high back, and is placed inside the gluteos maximus after the appropriate  preparation. The fat with this treatment has an absorption of approximately 30% in the long run, and from all the fat placed in the buttocks, 70% will remain in the long term. We must always remember that this fat is a living tissue, which increases if we get weight and decreases if we loose too. The procedure is performed in a hospital, under general and epidural anesthesia, and the patient is released to go home ou hotel after 4 to 6 hours from the recovery room.

The gluteal prosthesis is avaiable in several dimensions, being placed on intra-gluteal plan, ie, within the gluteus maximum-muscle. It features natural results when chosen in proportional size.

It is a  procedure held under general or epidural anesthesia with sedation and the patient must remain in the recovery room for about 4 to 6 hours.

After surgery, we must maintain a relative rest,  without sitting and sleeping with pressure on the butt. Besides, physical exercise using the gluteus is banned for 3 months (until complete healing).

We should pay attention that some exercises should be avoided after placement of the prosthesis, such as the leg press, for exerting too much force on the buttocks.
